Psaume 30:3

3SEIGNEUR, mon Dieu, je t'ai appelé au secours, et tu m'as guéri.

Ce Psaume de David était, selon le titre de l'information, soit utilisé pour la dédicace du palais de David ou du Temple de Salomon. La réalité est qu'il a probablement été utilisé pour les deux. En lisant tout le Psaume, nous voyons que c'est un chant exaltant la grandeur et la grâce de Dieu. Dieu ne guérit pas pour notre bien. Dieu guérit comme un moyen de prouver son autorité ultime sur tout. Le bénéfice d'être guéri est secondaire à la gloire et à l'honneur dus à Dieu.

Nous savons d'après la Bible que Dieu ne répond pas à chaque cri de guérison par une guérison. Paul en est l'exemple le plus notable. Ce n'est pas parce que nous implorons la guérison que Dieu guérira nos maux pendant que nous vivrons sur cette terre. En fait, Jésus nous le dit lui-même dans Jean 11 :14 lorsqu'on lui parle de l'état grave dans lequel se trouve son ami Lazare. Comme nous le savons par la suite de l'histoire, Lazare est mort. Marie et Marthe disent hardiment à Jésus que s'il avait été là, leur frère ne serait pas mort. Jésus ne réfute pas cela. Mais il nous dit dans Jean 11 :14 que ces choses sont arrivées afin que Dieu soit glorifié.

C'est avec cette même idée que parle l'auteur de ce Psaume. Dieu doit être glorifié. Si Dieu choisit de guérir, Dieu doit être glorifié. Si Dieu choisit de ne pas guérir, Dieu doit être glorifié. En toutes choses, Dieu doit être glorifié.

Prière

O, Créateur du monde, Maître de toutes choses, nous nous soumettons humblement à Toi et à Ta volonté et gloire divines. Nous vous remercions pour les dons de guérison et de rétablissement. Nous te remercions pour les dons d'épreuves et de souffrances pour toi. Nous reconnaissons que tu es notre Dieu et que tu dois être loué dans toutes les situations parce que tu es toujours bon avec nous.

Psalm 30:2

2O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.

This Psalm of David was, according to the information title, either used for the dedication of David’s palace or Solomon’s Temple.  The reality is it was probably used for both.  As you read the entire Psalm we see that it is a song extolling the greatness and grace of God.  God does not heal for our benefit.  God heals as a means of proving His ultimate authority of everything.  The benefit of being healed is secondary to the glory and honor due to God.

We know from the Bible that God does not answer every cry for healing with a healing.  Paul is the most notable example of this.  Just because we cry out for healing does not mean that God will heal our ailments while we live on this earth.  In fact, Jesus tells us as much himself in John 11:14 when he is told of the grave condition that his friend Lazarus is in.  As we know from the rest of the story, Lazarus died.  Both Mary and Martha boldly tell Jesus that had he been there their brother would not have died.  Jesus does not refute this.  But he tells us in John 11:14 that these things have occurred so that God may be glorified.

It is with this same idea that the author of this Psalm speaks.  God is to be glorified.  If God chooses to heal God is to be glorified.  If God chooses not to heal God is to be glorified.  In all things God is to be glorified.

Prayer

O, Creator of the world, Master of all things, we humbly submit to You and Your Divine will and glory.  We thank you for the gifts of healing and recovery.  We thank you for the gifts of trials and suffering for Your sake.  We acknowledge that You are our God and that You are to be praised in all situations because You are always good to us.

Zaburi 30:2

2 Ee Bwana, Mungu wangu, Nalikulilia ukaniponya.

Proverbes 25:15

15Par la patience, on fléchit un chef ; une langue douce brise des os.

Être audacieux, impétueux et direct n'est pas toujours la meilleure technique pour amener quelqu'un à considérer votre point de vue. Ce n'est même pas un bon moyen de discuter de questions et de sujets non controversés. Être gentil, patient et parler doucement a souvent de bien meilleurs résultats.

Personne n'aime être confronté de manière belliqueuse. Ce proverbe nous donne le bon conseil d'être persuasif sans être ennuyeux. Quand je lis ou entends quelque chose sur la patience, je pense toujours aux grottes naturelles et aux cavernes que j'ai visitées. Comment chacune des grandes colonnes de minéraux est créée par de simples gouttes d'eau au fil du temps. Ce qui a commencé comme une simple goutte d'eau laissant derrière elle une légère trace de minéral devient une énorme colonne qui s'étend sur plus de 10 mètres et mesure 2 ou 3 mètres de diamètre.

Être patient et persévérant vont de pair. Lorsque nous vivons quotidiennement notre vie en tant que disciples de notre Seigneur et Sauveur Jésus-Christ, nous devons être fermes dans notre foi. Vivre notre vie devant les autres avec lesquels nous avons des contacts constants ou intermittents devrait transmettre que nous sommes chrétiens - dans toutes les situations et dans toutes les circonstances. Nos vies sont des témoins vivants de la puissance transformatrice du salut de Dieu. Chaque jour, nous vivons comme témoins de la grâce étonnante de Dieu. C'est la persistance. La patience va de pair avec cela dans notre témoignage manifeste aux autres à travers la façon dont nous nous conduisons. Construire des relations de confiance. Construire des amitiés. Construire un rapport.

Jésus nous a commandé d'être des témoins et de faire des disciples. Introduire les gens à Jésus et les guider à travers les étapes initiales qui mènent à leur confession de foi est une affaire assez facile. Les former est un engagement à long terme qui demande de la patience.

Prière

Dieu du temps et de l'espace, s'il te plaît, accorde-nous la patience d'être tranquille et de t'écouter et pour toi. Accorde-nous la patience et la persévérance car nous sommes des témoins vivants devant un monde perdu. Puissions-nous être patients et toujours conscients qu'une petite goutte, un petit mot, un regard ou un sourire peut être le prochain élément constitutif pour que quelqu'un apprenne à te connaître comme son Seigneur et Sauveur.

Proverbs 25:15

15Through patience a ruler can be persuaded,

and a gentle tongue can break a bone.

Being bold, brash, and in-your-face is not always the best technique for getting someone to consider your point of view.  It is not even a good way to discuss non-controversial issues and topics.  Being kind, patient, and soft-spoken often has much better results.

No one likes to be confronted in a belligerent manner.  This proverb is giving us the good advice of being persuasive without being annoying.  When I read or hear something about patience, I always think about the natural caves and caverns that I’ve visited.  How each of the great columns of minerals are created by single drops of water over time.  What started out as a single drop of water leaving behind a slight trace of a mineral becomes a huge column that spans more than 10 meters and is 2 or 3 meters in diameter.

Being patient and persistent go hand in hand.  When we daily live our lives as followers of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we should be steadfast in our faith.  Living our lives before others that we either have constant or intermittent contact with should convey that we are Christians - in all situations and in all circumstances.  Our lives are living witnesses to the transformative power of God’s salvation.  Each day we live as witnesses to God’s amazing grace.  That is persistence.  Patience moves along with this in our overt witnessing to others through the way we conduct ourselves.  Building trusting relationships.  Building friendships.  Building a rapport.

Jesus commanded us to be witnesses and to make disciples.  Introducing people to Jesus and shepherding them through the initial stages that lead to their confession of faith is a rather easy matter.  Discipling them is the long-term commitment that requires patience.

Prayer

God of time and space, please grant us the patience to be still and listen to and for You.  Grant us the patience and perseverance as we are living witnesses before a lost world.  May we be patient and ever mindful that one little drop, one little word, look, or smile may be the next building block in someone coming to know You as their Lord and Savior.

Après avoir construit le Temple, Salomon est présent aux services de dédicace. Salomon comprend parfaitement la situation. Comment le Dieu créateur de la terre et des cieux peut-il être contenu dans tout ce qui a été construit par des mains humaines ? La réponse est simple : il ne peut pas être contenu !

Dieu ne vit dans aucune structure faite par des mains humaines ni apparaissant naturellement dans le monde créé. Salomon le sait. Salomon le reconnaît. Dieu ne peut pas être contenu ou logé. Le Temple est un endroit pour se concentrer sur l'adoration de Dieu, mais ce n'est pas la résidence de Dieu. Dieu peut choisir d'y habiter, mais Dieu n'est pas limité à cet endroit.

La même chose doit être comprise aujourd'hui. Il y a des endroits où nous nous rassemblons pour reconnaître l'existence, la puissance et la gloire de Dieu, mais Dieu n'y vit pas. Les bâtiments et les lieux ne sont pas sacrés parce que nous croyons à tort que Dieu y habite, mais parce que nous leur avons donné ces attributs par notre relation avec Dieu dans ces lieux.

Dans la langue du Nouveau Testament, l'église n'est pas le bâtiment ou l'emplacement, mais les personnes qui ont accepté Jésus comme leur Seigneur et Sauveur qui communient régulièrement ensemble. L'église universelle est composée de tous les croyants.

Trop souvent, nous nous laissons emporter par le où plutôt que par le qui. Nous nous réunissons en communion avec d'autres croyants pour louer, honorer et glorifier le Dieu vivant. L'emplacement importe peu. Une fois que nous voyons Dieu dans la bonne perspective, nous comprenons qu'il n'y a pas de « maison de Dieu », mais seulement des endroits où les croyants se rassemblent pour adorer le Dieu vivant.

Remerciez le Créateur de Tout d'être si loin au-dessus de nous, mais vous connaissez toujours chacun de nous par notre nom. Puissions-nous réaliser que Tu habites en nous et non dans des bâtiments ou des lieux. Aide-nous à vivre nos vies en sachant que nous sommes à Toi et que nous avons été achetés à un prix. Merci d'habiter nos cœurs et d'habiter notre louange.

1 Kings 8:27

27But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!

After building the Temple, Solomon is there at the dedication services.  Solomon absolutely comprehends the situation.  How can the Creator God of earth and the heavens be contained in anything built by human hands?  The answer is simple -- He cannot be contained!  

God does not live in any structure made by human hands nor appearing naturally in the created world.  Solomon knows this.  Solomon acknowledges this.  God cannot be contained or housed.  The Temple is a place to focus on the worship of God, but it is not the residence of God.  God may choose to dwell there, but God is not limited to that location.

The same thing must be understood today.  There are places that we gather together to acknowledge the existence, power, and glory of God, but God does not live there.  Buildings and places are not sacred because we mistakenly believe that God dwells in them, but because we have given them those attributes by how we relate to God in those places.  

In New Testament language, the church is not the building or the location, but the people who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior who regularly fellowship together.  The universal church is made up of all believers.  

Too many times we get wrapped up in the where rather than the who.  We come together in fellowship with other believers to praise, honor, and glorify the Living God.  The location is of little consequence.  Once we see God in the proper perspective we understand that there is no such thing as a “house of God,” but only places where believers congregate to worship the Living God.    

Prayer

Thank Creator of All that you are so far above us yet You still know each of us by name.  May we realize that You dwell within us and not in buildings or locations.  Help us to live our lives in the knowledge that we are Yours and that we have been bought with a price.  Thank You that You inhabit our hearts and that You inhabit our praise.

Mungu anaweza kuchagua kukaa huko, lakini Mungu hana mipaka kwenye eneo hilo.

Jambo hilo hilo lazima lieleweke leo. Kuna maeneo ambayo tunakusanyika pamoja kutambua uwepo, nguvu, na utukufu wa Mungu, lakini Mungu haishi hapo. Jean 5:24

24Amen, amen, je vous le dis, celui qui entend ma parole et qui croit celui qui m'a envoyé a la vie éternelle ; il ne vient pas en jugement, il est passé de la mort à la vie. 

Jésus est le seul chemin vers la vie éternelle. Jésus en témoigne lui-même, comme le rapporte Jean. Ce n'est que par et par la foi en Dieu et la croyance que Jésus est vraiment Dieu que nous avons cette opportunité. Ce n'est pas par de bonnes actions, vivre une vie de service aux autres, s'abstenir de comportements nuisibles ou destructeurs - c'est la foi. Cette foi en Dieu que Jésus est le Messie.

Une fois que nous plaçons notre foi en Dieu, nous devons alors prendre les prochaines étapes pour rechercher la volonté et la direction de Dieu pour nos vies. Vivre dans la volonté de Dieu devrait inclure faire de bonnes actions, vivre une vie de service et éviter les comportements nuisibles ou destructeurs. Ce sont les résultats démontrables de la foi en Dieu.

La vie éternelle n'est pas seulement le résultat, mais fait partie de la récompense, de croire aux paroles de Jésus, de vivre une vie de foi en Dieu et d'être de fidèles intendants des dons et des talents que Dieu nous a donnés.

Si votre foi est en autre chose que le Messie de Dieu, alors vous devez passer du temps pour voir qui est vraiment Dieu. La vie éternelle ne vient que par la foi en Christ.

Prière

Merci Seigneur d'avoir envoyé ton fils unique pour nous montrer comment nous devons avoir foi en toi pour notre salut. Aide-nous à vivre une vie centrée sur toi. Aide-nous à être reconnaissants pour le don de la vie éternelle que tu nous offres par la foi.

John 5:24

24“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

Jesus is the only way to eternal life.  Jesus testifies to this himself, as recorded by John.  It is only by and through faith in God and belief that Jesus is truly God that we have this opportunity.  It is not through good deeds, living a life of service to others, abstaining from harmful or destructive behavior - it is faith.  That faith in God that Jesus is the Messiah.  

Once we place our faith in God we then must take the next steps of seeking God’s will and direction for our lives.  Living in God’s will should include doing good deeds, living a life of service, and avoiding harmful or destructive behavior.  These are the demonstrable outcomes of having faith in God.

Eternal life is not only the result, but is part of the reward, of believing the words of Jesus, living a life of faith in God, and being faithful stewards of the gifts and talents God has given us.

If your faith is in anything but God’s Messiah, then you need to spend some time to see who God really is.  Eternal life only comes through faith in Christ.

Prayer

Thank You Lord that You sent Your only son to show us how we are to have faith in You for our salvation.  Help us to live lives that are centered on You.  Help us to be grateful for the gift of eternal life that you offer to us through faith.

Yohana 5:24

24 Amin, amin, nawaambia, Yeye alisikiaye neno langu na kumwamini yeye aliyenipeleka yuna uzima wa milele; wala haingii hukumuni, bali amepita kutoka mautini kuingia uzimani.

Yesu ndiye njia pekee ya uzima wa milele. Yesu anashuhudia jambo hili mwenyewe, kama ilivyoandikwa na Yohana. Ni kwa kupitia na kwa imani katika Mungu na imani kwamba Yesu kweli ni Mungu ndio tunapata nafasi hii. Sio kupitia matendo mema, kuishi maisha ya huduma kwa wengine, kujiepusha na tabia mbaya au yenye uharibifu - ni imani. Imani hiyo kwa Mungu kwamba Yesu ndiye Masihi.

Mara tu tunapoweka imani yetu kwa Mungu basi lazima tuchukue hatua zifuatazo za kutafuta mapenzi ya Mungu na mwelekeo wa maisha yetu. Kuishi katika mapenzi ya Mungu ni pamoja na kufanya matendo mema, kuishi maisha ya huduma, na kuepuka tabia inayodhuru au yenye uharibifu. Haya ni matokeo ya kudhihirika ya kuwa na imani kwa Mungu.

Uzima wa milele sio tu matokeo, bali ni sehemu ya tuzo, ya kuamini maneno ya Yesu, kuishi maisha ya kumwamini Mungu, na kuwa mawakili waaminifu wa karama na talanta ambazo Mungu ametupatia.

Ikiwa imani yako iko katika kitu chochote isipokuwa Masihi wa Mungu, basi unahitaji kutumia wakati fulani kuona Mungu ni nani haswa. Uzima wa milele huja tu kupitia imani katika Kristo.

L'une des grandes attentes et assurances des chrétiens est le retour de Jésus. Le Jour du Jugement. Jésus enseigne à ses disciples qu'ils doivent être prêts pour ce jour-là. Non pas que cela devrait changer la façon dont ils vivent leur mission de Jésus, mais la façon dont ils s'attendent à ce que le Seigneur revienne dans la Gloire. Être à l'affut. Attendez-le et sachez que cela arrivera. Ne soyez pas pris au dépourvu.

Concrètement, que faut-il faire ? Presque chacun des exemples que Jésus donne à propos de son retour montre des gens vaquant à leurs occupations quotidiennes. Nous devons toujours vivre dans le présent et planifier pour l'avenir. Ne pas le faire serait insensé. Ce que la déclaration de Jésus nous dit, c'est que nous devons être conscients qu'à tout moment, il peut revenir dans l'histoire.

Vivez chaque jour au maximum. Vivez de manière à ce que Christ soit glorifié dans tout ce que vous faites avec la pleine connaissance et compréhension que Jésus peut revenir à tout moment.

Prière

Seigneur, nous savons que tu as promis que tu reviendrais. Nous savons que vous reviendrez en un clin d'œil avec tout le monde dans le monde comprenant parfaitement ce qui se passe. Aide-nous à vivre chaque jour dans cette attente. Aide-nous à vivre dans le but d'accomplir ta volonté pour nos vies. Viens vite, Seigneur Jésus.

Matthew 24:42

42“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 

One of the great expectations and assurances of Christians is the return of Jesus.  The Day of Judgment.  Jesus teaches his followers that they need to be ready for that day.  Not that it should change the way they are living out their mission from Jesus, but in the way that they expect the Lord to return in Glory.  Be on the lookout.  Expect it and know that it will happen.  Do not be caught unprepared.

In practical terms what are supposed to do?  Almost each of the examples that Jesus gives about his return show people going about their daily lives.  We should still live in the now and plan for the future.  To not do so would be foolish.  What Jesus’ statement tells us is that we must be aware that at any moment He may break back into history.

Live every day to the fullest.  Live in such a way that Christ is glorified in all that you do with the full knowledge and understanding that Jesus may return at any time.

Prayer

Lord, we know that You promised that you would return.  We know that You will come back in the blink of an eye with everyone in the world fully understanding what is happening.  Help us to live each day in that expectation.  Help us to live with the purpose of fulfilling Your will for our lives.  Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Mathayo 24:42

42 Kesheni basi; kwa maana hamjui ni siku ipi atakayokuja Bwana wenu.

Moja ya matarajio makubwa na uhakikisho wa Wakristo ni kurudi kwa Yesu. Siku ya Hukumu. Yesu anawafundisha wafuasi wake kwamba wanahitaji kuwa tayari kwa siku hiyo. Sio kwamba inapaswa kubadilisha njia wanayoishi kutoka kwa Yesu, lakini kwa njia ambayo wanatarajia Bwana kurudi katika Utukufu. Kuwa macho. Itarajie na ujue kuwa itatokea. Usikamatwe bila kujiandaa.

Kwa maneno halisi ni nini kinatakiwa kufanya? Karibu kila mifano ambayo Yesu anatoa juu ya kurudi kwake inaonyesha watu wanaendelea na maisha yao ya kila siku. Tunapaswa bado kuishi katika sasa na kupanga kwa siku zijazo. Kufanya hivyo itakuwa ujinga. Maneno ya Yesu yanatuambia ni kwamba lazima tujue kuwa wakati wowote anaweza kurudi kwenye historia.

Ishi kila siku kwa ukamilifu. Ishi kwa njia ambayo Kristo ametukuzwa katika yote unayoyafanya kwa maarifa kamili na ufahamu kwamba Yesu anaweza kurudi wakati wowote.

Maombi

Bwana, tunajua kwamba Uliahidi kwamba utarudi. Tunajua kuwa Utarudi kwa kupepesa macho na kila mtu ulimwenguni akielewa kikamilifu kinachotokea. Tusaidie kuishi kila siku katika matarajio hayo. Tusaidie kuishi na kusudi la kutimiza mapenzi yako kwa maisha yetu. Njoo haraka, Bwana Yesu.

Jean 15:16

16Ce n'est pas vous qui m'avez choisi, c'est moi qui vous ai choisis et institués pour que, vous, vous alliez, que vous portiez du fruit et que votre fruit demeure ; afin que le Père vous donne tout ce que vous lui demanderez en mon nom.

Jésus parle à son cercle intime de disciples lors de la Dernière Cène. Ils l'ont accompagné durant ses trois années de ministère. Il est évident que quelque chose se passe et que quelque chose est sur le point de se produire.

La façon dont Jean le décrit, Jésus leur donne beaucoup d'informations et essaie de les préparer du mieux qu'il peut pour la série d'événements à venir. Ce groupe l'a vu enseigner, prêcher, guérir et prier.

Jésus leur dit qu'il les a choisis - même s'ils sont venus à lui à l'origine pour voir ce qu'il enseignait - il les a choisis pour être dans son cercle intime. Ils ont peut-être fait le premier pas vers Jésus pour voir de quoi il s'agissait, mais c'est Jésus qui les a choisis pour être ses disciples.

Jésus leur explique comment ils doivent porter le fruit de ses enseignements. Il ne suffit pas qu'ils l'aient entendu et vu enseigner et mettre en pratique son enseignement au cours des trois dernières années. Jésus attend et leur dit clairement qu'ils doivent être les enseignants et que le message doit continuer à travers eux et plus loin !

Vient ensuite la partie qui est si mal utilisée et mal comprise. Jésus NE DIT PAS, demandez ce que vous voulez et vous l'obtiendrez tant que vous direz également « Au nom de Jésus ». Jésus dit : « tout ce que vous demanderez comme je le demanderais, vous sera donné. » Ajouter « au nom de Jésus » à une demande est bien, mais ne vous attendez pas à ce que Jésus voudrait pour vous soit la même chose que vous voulez pour vous.

Dieu n'est pas un génie qui surgit d'une lampe et exauce vos demandes. Dieu n'est pas une fée marraine qui vous accorde les désirs de votre cœur. Dieu est le Dieu créateur à qui nous devons tout ce que nous sommes. Jésus ne dit JAMAIS quoi que ce soit à propos de « nomme-le et revendique-le ! »

Quand nous demandons quelque chose comme Jésus le demanderait - avec Sa gloire à l'esprit ; avec ses intérêts à l'esprit ; avec son adoration à l'esprit ; et avec Son Royaume à l'esprit - alors Dieu l'accordera. La dernière partie de ce verset n'a rien à voir avec nos désirs, nos souhaits et nos désirs. Cela a tout à voir avec le désir de Dieu que tous arrivent au salut par Jésus-Christ. Cela a tout à voir avec le fait de donner à Dieu toute la gloire simplement pour qui Il est.

Prière

Dieu notre Père, que notre prière soit d'être davantage comme Jésus. Que notre prière soit autorisée à participer à la glorification de Ton Nom parmi les nations. Que notre prière soit de chercher d'abord le Royaume de Dieu. Que notre prière soit d'être fidèle pour Te rendre tout l'honneur et la gloire pour les dons et les talents que Tu nous as donnés et que nous les utilisons pour Ta glorification.

John 15:16

16You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 

Jesus is talking to his inner circle of disciples at the Last Supper.  They have been with him during his three years of ministry.  It is obvious that something is going and that something is about to happen.

The way John describes it, Jesus is giving them loads of information and is trying to prepare them the best that he can for the upcoming series of events.  This group has seen him teach, preach, heal, and pray.

Jesus tells them that he picked them - even if they originally came to him to see what he was teaching - he chose them to be in his inner circle.  They may have made the first move toward Jesus to see what he was about, but it was Jesus who chose them to be is disciples.

Jesus explains to them how they are to bear the fruit of his teachings.  It is not enough that they have heard and seen him teaching and enacting his teaching the past three years.  Jesus expects and pointedly tells them that they are to be the teachers and that the message must continue through them and farther!

Then comes the part that is so misused and misunderstood.  Jesus DOES NOT say ask for whatever you want and you will get it as long as you also say “In the name of Jesus.”  Jesus says, “whatever you ask for as I would ask for, will be given to you.”  Adding “in the name of Jesus” to a request is fine, but don’t expect what Jesus would want for you is the same thing as you want for you.

God is not a genie that pops up out of a lamp and grants your requests.  God is not a fairy godmother who grants you the desires of your heart.  God is the Creator God to whom we owe all that we are.  Jesus NEVER says anything about “name it and claim it!”

When we ask for something as Jesus would ask for it - with His glory in mind; with His interests in mind; with His adoration in mind; and with His Kingdom in mind - then God will grant it.  The last part of this verse has nothing to do with our wants, wishes, and desires.  It has everything to do with God’s desire that all come to salvation through Jesus Christ.  It has everything to do with giving God all the glory simply for who He is.

Prayer

God our Father, may our prayer be to be more like Jesus.  May our prayer be to be allowed to participate in glorifying Your Name among the nations.  May our prayer be to seek first the Kingdom of God.  May our prayer be to be faithful to give You all the honor and glory for the gifts and talents You have given us and that we use them for Your glorification.

Yohana 15:16

16 Si ninyi mlionichagua mimi, bali ni mimi niliyewachagua ninyi; nami nikawaweka mwende mkazae matunda; na matunda yenu yapate kukaa; ili kwamba lo lote mmwombalo Baba kwa jina langu awapeni.

Yesu anazungumza na mduara wake wa ndani wa wanafunzi katika Karamu ya Mwisho. Wamekuwa naye wakati wa miaka yake mitatu ya huduma. Ni dhahiri kuwa kuna kitu kinaenda na kwamba kitu fulani kinakaribia kutokea.

Jinsi Yohana anavyoielezea, Yesu anawapa habari nyingi na anajaribu kuwaandaa bora zaidi awezavyo kwa safu zijazo za hafla. Kundi hili limemwona akifundisha, akihubiri, akiponya, na akiomba.

Yesu anawaambia kwamba aliwachagua - hata ikiwa mwanzoni walimjia kuona kile alichokuwa akifundisha - aliwachagua wawe katika mzunguko wake wa ndani. Labda walifanya hatua ya kwanza kuelekea kwa Yesu kuona kile alikuwa juu, lakini ni Yesu aliyewachagua kuwa wanafunzi.

Yesu anawaelezea jinsi wanavyostahili kuzaa matunda ya mafundisho yake. Haitoshi kwamba wamemsikia na kumuona akifundisha na kutekeleza mafundisho yake katika miaka mitatu iliyopita. Yesu anatarajia na kuwaambia waziwazi kwamba wao ndio wanapaswa kuwa waalimu na kwamba ujumbe lazima uendelee kupitia wao na zaidi!

Halafu inakuja sehemu ambayo hutumiwa vibaya na kueleweka vibaya. Yesu HASEMA kuuliza chochote unachotaka na utakipata maadamu utasema "Kwa jina la Yesu." Yesu anasema, "chochote utakachoomba kama vile ningeomba, utapewa." Kuongeza "kwa jina la Yesu" kwa ombi ni sawa, lakini usitarajie kile Yesu angetaka kwako ni sawa na vile unavyotaka kwako.

Mungu sio jini anayeibuka kutoka kwa taa na kutoa maombi yako. Mungu sio mama wa kike wa hadithi ambaye anakupa matakwa ya moyo wako. Mungu ni Muumba Mungu ambaye tunadaiwa yote tuliyo nayo. KAMWE Yesu hasemi chochote juu ya "iipe jina na uidai!"

Tunapoomba kitu kama vile Yesu angeomba - tukiwa na utukufu Wake akilini; na masilahi Yake akilini; na ibada yake akilini; na kwa kuzingatia Ufalme wake - basi Mungu ataipa. Sehemu ya mwisho ya aya hii haihusiani na mahitaji yetu, matakwa yetu, na matakwa yetu. Ina kila kitu cha kufanya na hamu ya Mungu kwamba wote waje kwenye wokovu kupitia Yesu Kristo. Inahusiana na kumpa Mungu utukufu wote kwa jinsi alivyo.

Maombi

Mungu Baba yetu, maombi yetu yawe kama Yesu. Maombi yetu na yaruhusiwe kushiriki katika kulitukuza Jina lako kati ya mataifa. Maombi yetu na yawe ya kutafuta kwanza Ufalme wa Mungu. Naomba maombi yetu yawe yaaminifu kukupa heshima na utukufu wote kwa zawadi na talanta ulizotupa na kwamba tunazitumia kwa utukufu wako.
