 Colossiens 2:6-7

6Ainsi donc, comme vous avez reçu le Seigneur Jésus Christ, marchez en lui,7étant enracinés et fondés en lui, et affermis par la foi, d'après les instructions qui vous ont été données, et abondez en actions de grâces.

Les racines sont la partie de la plante qui non seulement ancre la plante, mais aussi la partie de la plante qui fournit de la nourriture et de l'eau au reste de la plante. Généralement invisible, le système racinaire est généralement plus grand que la partie exposée de la plante. Si la racine est trop petite, la plante ne survivra pas. Il se fanera dans des conditions chaudes et sèches. Il sera déraciné dans des conditions venteuses. Il sera facilement frappé et piétiné. Il mourra.

Jésus en parle dans la parabole des semences dans Matthieu 13. Ici, Paul va au-delà de cela. Il sait que les graines de la foi sont tombées sur une bonne terre. Il sait que les chrétiens de Colosses vivent leur vie en Christ. Il les encourage à approfondir leur foi et leur connaissance du Christ.

Dieu attend de nous que nous grandissions dans notre foi. Pour étendre nos racines afin que nous devenions comme l'arbre en

Jérémie 17

7Béni soit l'homme qui se confie dans l'Éternel, Et dont l'Éternel est l'espérance! 8Il est comme un arbre planté près des eaux, Et qui étend ses racines vers le courant; Il n'aperçoit point la chaleur quand elle vient, Et son feuillage reste vert; Dans l'année de la sécheresse, il n'a point de crainte, Et il ne cesse de porter du fruit.

Comment cultiver nos racines? En étudiant la Bible. En découvrant les personnes, les lieux et les événements décrits dans la Bible. En creusant profondément pour découvrir quels mots ont été utilisés dans les langues de la transmission originale de la Bible (hébreu, araméen et grec). En étudiant la manière dont Dieu interagit avec sa création. En comprenant que Dieu n'a pas peur de nos questions. En priant pour être guidé par le Saint-Esprit alors que nous approfondissons la Bible. La Bible a été étudiée et examinée pendant des milliers d'années. Il y a toujours quelque chose dedans qui nous concerne parce que c'est tout l'intérêt de la Bible. Il montre comment Dieu se rapporte à sa création.

Mais, nous ne recueillons pas seulement des connaissances pour le plaisir de recueillir des connaissances. Nous ne recueillons pas non plus de connaissances dans le vide. Nous devons être en communion avec d’autres croyants et rechercher ensemble la volonté de Dieu. Ensuite, nous devons partager le message de l'Évangile et être capables de répondre aux questions des non-croyants.

Et nous devrions déborder de gratitude! La grâce de Dieu pour nous est tellement impressionnante! Nous devons tous être plus conscients de la grâce de Dieu envers nous. Nous devons tous nous arrêter et réfléchir à toutes les choses pour lesquelles nous devrions être reconnaissants chaque jour. Dieu est bon tout le temps.

Colossians 2

6So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Roots are the part of the plant that not only anchor the plant, but also are the part of the plant that provides nourishment and water to the rest of the plant.  Mostly unseen, the root system is usually larger than the exposed part of the plant.  If the root is too small the plant will not survive.  It will wither in hot and dry conditions.  It will be uprooted in windy conditions.  It will be easily kicked and trampled.  It will die.  

Jesus talks about this in the parable of the seeds in Matthew 13.  Here, Paul is going beyond that.  He knows that the seeds of faith have fallen on good soil.  He knows that the Christians in Colossae are living their lives in Christ.  He’s encouraging them to grow deeper in their faith and knowledge of Christ.  

God expects us to grow in our faith.  To extend our roots so that we become like the tree in

Jeremiah 17:7-8

7“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,

whose confidence is in him.

8They will be like a tree planted by the water

that sends out its roots by the stream.

It does not fear when heat comes;

its leaves are always green.

It has no worries in a year of drought

and never fails to bear fruit.”

  

How do we grow our roots?  By studying the Bible.  By learning about the people, places, and events described in the Bible.  By digging deep to find out what words were used in the languages of the original transmission of the Bible (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek).  By studying the way God interacts with His creation.  By understanding that God is not afraid of our questions.  By praying for guidance from the Holy Spirit as we delve deeper into the Bible.  The Bible has been studied and examined for thousands of years.  There is always something in it that relates to us because that is the whole point of the Bible.  It points out how God relates to His creation.

But, we don’t just gather knowledge for the sake of gathering knowledge.  We also don’t gather knowledge in a vacuum.  We must be in fellowship with other believers and together seek God’s will.  Then we must share the Gospel message and be able to answer the questions of non-believers.

And we should be overflowing with thankfulness!  God’s grace to us is so awesome!  We all need to be more aware of God’s grace to us.  We all need to stop and think about all the things we should be thankful for every day.  God is good all the time.

Wakolosai 2:6-7

6Hivyo basi, kama vile mlivyompokea Kristo Yesu kuwa Bwana, endeleeni kukaa ndani yake, 7mkiwa na mizizi, na mmejengwa ndani yake, mkiimarishwa katika imani kama mlivyofundishwa, na kufurika kwa wingi wa shukrani.

Mizizi ni sehemu ya mmea ambayo sio tu nanga ya mmea, lakini pia ni sehemu ya mmea ambao hutoa lishe na maji kwa mmea wote. Haionekani, mfumo wa mizizi kawaida huwa mkubwa kuliko sehemu iliyo wazi ya mmea. Ikiwa mzizi ni mdogo sana mmea hautaishi. Itakauka katika hali ya moto na kavu. Itang'olewa katika mazingira ya upepo. Itapigwa teke na kukanyagwa kwa urahisi. Itakufa.

Yesu anazungumza juu ya hili katika mfano wa mbegu katika Mathayo 13. Hapa, Paulo anaenda zaidi ya hapo. Anajua kwamba mbegu za imani zimeanguka kwenye mchanga mzuri. Anajua kwamba Wakristo wa Kolosai wanaishi maisha yao katika Kristo. Anawahimiza wakue zaidi katika imani yao na maarifa ya Kristo.

Mungu anatarajia sisi kukua katika imani yetu. Kupanua mizizi yetu ili tuwe kama mti ulio ndani

Yeremia 17

7“Lakini amebarikiwa mtu ambaye tumaini lake ni katika Bwana,

ambaye matumaini yake ni katika Bwana.

8Atakuwa kama mti uliopandwa kando ya maji

uenezao mizizi yake karibu na kijito cha maji.

Hauogopi wakati wa joto ujapo;

majani yake ni mabichi daima.

Hauna hofu katika mwaka wa ukame

na hautaacha kuzaa matunda.”

Je! Tunakuaje mizizi yetu? Kwa kujifunza Biblia. Kwa kujifunza juu ya watu, mahali, na matukio yaliyoelezewa katika Biblia. Kwa kuchimba kwa kina ili kujua ni maneno gani yaliyotumiwa katika lugha za usambazaji wa asili wa Biblia (Kiebrania, Kiaramu, na Kigiriki). Kwa kusoma jinsi Mungu anavyoshughulika na uumbaji wake. Kwa kuelewa kuwa Mungu haogopi maswali yetu. Kwa kuomba mwongozo kutoka kwa Roho Mtakatifu tunapochunguza zaidi ndani ya Biblia. Biblia imejifunza na kuchunguzwa kwa maelfu ya miaka. Daima kuna kitu ndani yake ambacho kinahusiana na sisi kwa sababu hiyo ndiyo hatua nzima ya Biblia. Inaonyesha jinsi Mungu anahusiana na uumbaji wake.

Lakini, hatukusanyi tu maarifa kwa sababu ya kukusanya maarifa. Hatukusanyi pia maarifa katika ombwe. Lazima tuwe katika ushirika na waumini wengine na kwa pamoja tutafute mapenzi ya Mungu. Halafu lazima tushiriki ujumbe wa Injili na kuweza kujibu maswali ya wasioamini.

Na tunapaswa kufurika na shukrani! Neema ya Mungu kwetu ni ya kushangaza sana! Sisi sote tunahitaji kufahamu zaidi neema ya Mungu kwetu. Sisi sote tunahitaji kusimama na kufikiria juu ya vitu vyote tunapaswa kushukuru kwa kila siku. Mungu ni mwema kila wakati.
