Jérémie 23:23-24
24Si quelqu'un se cache, suis-je incapable de le voir? demande le Seigneur.
Je suis présent dans tout l'univers, ne le savez-vous pas? demande le Seigneur.
Les anciens avaient l'idée que les dieux étaient locaux ou spécifiques à une tribu/culture. Cela était vrai même à l'époque du Nouveau Testament. Les Zeus vivaient sur le mont Olympe, Poséidon vivait sur la péninsule sud au sud de Sparte. Dans Genèse, nous voyons cette idée dans l’histoire de Rachel prenant les dieux de la maison de Laban (Genèse 31). Notre Dieu (YHWH) n'est pas un Dieu local ou tribal. Il est LE DIEU. Notre Dieu est le Dieu trinitaire, la Sainte Trinité. Il est pleinement conscient de toute sa création.
Dieu n'est pas limité par la géographie. Sa maison n’est ni le temple de Jérusalem, ni la basilique Saint-Pierre de Rome, ni l’église où se réunit votre congrégation. Dieu n'est lié ni par les frontières, ni par les murs, ni par la langue.
Il n'y a aucun endroit pour se cacher de Dieu. Ni physiquement, ni mentalement, ni spirituellement. Les humains sont créés à l'image de Dieu d'une certaine manière (Genèse 1:26). Je crois qu'une partie de nous sait toujours que Dieu est là, peu importe ce que nous disons ou faisons. Comme reconnaît comme. La partie qui est à l'image de Dieu en nous reconnaît la plénitude de qui est Dieu. Il n'y a pas d'échappatoire à Dieu. Il n'y a pas de secrets de Dieu.
De plus, Dieu nous cherche. Jésus est venu chercher et sauver (Luc 19:10). Dieu sait qui nous sommes. Dieu sait où nous sommes. Dieu veut que nous soyons en sécurité en sa présence.
Ce verset n'a pas pour but de mettre la peur dans nos cœurs. Ce verset indique simplement la réalité de la situation. Dieu est proche. Dieu seul sait. Dieu entend. Ce que ce verset devrait inspirer en nous, c'est un sentiment de sûreté et de sécurité. Dans nos moments de difficulté; à notre époque d'épreuves; dans notre temps de doute - Dieu est là. Quand nous pensons que nous pouvons nous en sortir sans obéir à la volonté de Dieu, Dieu est là. Lorsque nous prions pour les autres, Dieu est là.
Il est à la fois terrifiant et réconfortant de connaître la proximité de Dieu. Terrifiant parce que je sais que je vais échouer. Réconfortant parce que je sais que Dieu est à proximité prêt à m'accepter de nouveau en communion avec Lui après que je me confesse et me repent. Mon objectif devrait être d’essayer de trouver et de rester au centre de la volonté de Dieu; ne pas se soucier des «et si» des tentations et des échecs. Si je me concentre sur où et comment Dieu veut que je sois - lire et étudier la Bible, prier pour les autres et moi-même, échanger avec d'autres chrétiens et être lumière et sel dans le monde - sachant que Dieu est à la fois proche et lointain est un grand confort.
Prière:
Seigneur, je sais que tu es partout, mais je sais aussi que tu es ici avec moi. Aidez-moi à vivre chaque jour comme vous voudriez que je le fasse. Puis-je vraiment comprendre que votre présence est avec moi dans mes pensées et mes actes. Aide-moi à être au centre de ta volonté. Puis-je sentir votre présence réconfortante. Je te remercie d'être aussi la présence réconfortante de mes frères et sœurs à travers le monde.

23“Am I only a God nearby,” declares the LORD, “and not a God far away?”
24“Can a man hide in secret places where I cannot see him?” declares the LORD.
“Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD.
The ancients had the idea that gods were local or tribe/culture specific. This was true even in New Testament times. The Zeus lived on Mount Olympus, Poseidon lived on the southern peninsula south of Sparta. In Genesis we see this idea in the story of Rachel taking Laban’s household gods (Genesis 31). Our God (YHWH) is not a local or tribal God. He is THE GOD. Our God is The Triune God, the Holy Trinity. He is fully aware of all of His creation.
God is not limited by geography. His home is not the Temple in Jerusalem nor Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome nor the church where your congregation gathers. God is not bound by borders nor walls nor language.
There is no place to hide from God. Not physically, not mentally, not spiritually. Humans are made in the image of God in some manner (Genesis 1:26). I believe that a part of us always knows that God is there, no matter what we say or do. Like recognizes like. The part that is in the image of God within us recognizes the fullness of who God is. There is no escaping from God. There are no secrets from God.
Furthermore, God seeks us. Jesus came to seek and save (Luke 19:10). God knows who we are. God knows where we are. God wants us to be safe in His presence.
This verse is not to put fear into our hearts. This verse simply points out the reality of the situation. God is near. God knows. God hears. What this verse should inspire within us is a feeling of safety and security. In our times of difficulty; in our times of trials; in our time of doubt -- God is there. When we think that we can get away with not obeying the will of God -- God is there. When we pray for others -- God is there.
It is both terrifying and a comfort to know God’s nearness. Terrifying because I know that I am going to fail. Comforting because I know that God is nearby ready to accept me back into fellowship with Him after I confess and repent. My focus should be on trying to find and stay in the center of God’s will; not worrying about the “what-ifs” of temptations and failure. If I focus on where and how God wants me to be -- reading and studying the Bible, praying for others and myself, fellowshipping with other Christians, and being light and salt in the world - knowing that God is both near and far is a great comfort.
Prayer:
Lord, I know that You are everywhere, but I also know that You are here with me. Help me to live each day as You would have me do so. May I truly understand that Your presence is with me in my thoughts and deeds. Help me to be in the center of Your will. May I feel Your comforting presence. I thank You that You are also the comforting presence of my brothers and sisters around the world.

“Je, mimi sikuijaza mbingu na nchi?”
Wazee walikuwa na wazo kwamba miungu ni ya wenyeji au kabila/utamaduni maalum. Hii ilikuwa kweli hata nyakati za Agano Jipya. Zeus aliishi kwenye Mlima Olympus, Poseidon aliishi kwenye peninsula ya kusini kusini mwa Sparta. Katika Mwanzo tunaona wazo hili katika hadithi ya Raheli akichukua miungu ya Labani (Mwanzo 31). Mungu wetu (YHWH) sio Mungu wa mahali au kabila. Yeye ndiye MUNGU. Mungu wetu ni Mungu wa Utatu, Utatu Mtakatifu. Anajua kabisa uumbaji wake wote.
Mungu hauzuiliwi na jiografia. Nyumba yake sio Hekalu huko Yerusalemu wala Kanisa kuu la Mtakatifu Peter huko Roma wala kanisa ambalo mkutano wako unakusanyika. Mungu hafungwi na mipaka wala kuta wala lugha.
Hakuna mahali pa kujificha kwa Mungu. Sio kimwili, sio kiakili, sio kiroho. Wanadamu wameumbwa kwa mfano wa Mungu kwa namna fulani (Mwanzo 1:26). Ninaamini kwamba sehemu yetu siku zote inajua kwamba Mungu yuko, bila kujali tunachosema au kufanya. Kama inatambua kama. Sehemu ambayo iko katika sura ya Mungu ndani yetu inatambua ukamilifu wa Mungu ni nani. Hakuna kutoroka kutoka kwa Mungu. Hakuna siri kutoka kwa Mungu.
Isitoshe, Mungu hututafuta. Yesu alikuja kutafuta na kuokoa (Luka 19:10). Mungu anajua sisi ni nani. Mungu anajua tulipo. Mungu anataka tuwe salama mbele yake.
Aya hii sio kuweka hofu ndani ya mioyo yetu. Aya hii inaonyesha tu ukweli wa hali hiyo. Mungu yuko karibu. Mungu anajua. Mungu husikia. Nini kifungu hiki kinapaswa kuhamasisha ndani yetu ni hisia ya usalama na usalama. Katika nyakati zetu za shida; katika nyakati zetu za majaribu; katika wakati wetu wa mashaka - Mungu yupo. Ikiwa nitazingatia ni wapi na jinsi Mungu anataka niwe - kusoma na kusoma Biblia, kuombea wengine na mimi mwenyewe, kushirikiana na Wakristo wengine, na kuwa nuru na chumvi ulimwenguni - kujua kwamba Mungu yuko karibu na mbali ni faraja kubwa.
Maombi:
Bwana, najua kuwa wewe uko kila mahali, lakini pia najua kuwa uko hapa pamoja nami. Nisaidie kuishi kila siku kwa vile Ungetaka nifanye hivyo. Naweza kuelewa kweli kwamba uwepo Wako uko nami katika mawazo na matendo yangu. Nisaidie kuwa katikati ya mapenzi Yako. Naweza kuhisi uwepo wako wenye kufariji. Ninakushukuru kwamba Wewe pia ni uwepo wa faraja wa kaka na dada zangu ulimwenguni kote.
