Nombres 23:19

19Dieu n'est pas un homme pour mentir, il n'est pas un être humain pour avoir du regret. Ce qu'il a dit, ne le fera-t-il pas ? Ce qu'il a déclaré, ne le réalisera-t-il pas ?

Dans ces chapitres des Nombres, nous avons un aperçu de ce que Dieu fait dans la vie de ceux qui ne sont pas le peuple élu ni les descendants d'Abraham. Les Moabites sont liés aux Israélites car tous deux ont le même ancêtre commun Térah (le père d'Abraham). D'une certaine manière, Balaam a une certaine connaissance de Dieu (Yahweh). Que ce soit par une tradition plus longue transmise de la lignée de Terah ou puisque Balaam est une sorte de saint homme, il est définitivement conscient de qui est Dieu et de ce que Dieu peut faire. Je vous suggère de lire Nombres chapitres 22-24.

Je trouve toujours fascinant d'avoir un aperçu de ce que Dieu fait parmi les nations dans la Bible. Ce que nous avons dans l'Ancien Testament est principalement l'histoire de Dieu qui nous est présentée à travers la perspective du Peuple Élu - les Israélites. Mais dans ces histoires, nous voyons des aperçus comme celui-ci de la façon dont Dieu n'est pas un Dieu tribal ou provincial. Oui, il a fait une alliance avec Abraham, Jacob et Moïse - pourtant il y en a d'autres avec qui Dieu parle. Il y en a d'autres par qui Dieu parle. Nous ne voyons que ce qui est devant nous et nos expériences. Ces aperçus devraient nous rappeler que Dieu est Dieu et que nous ne le sommes pas. Lorsque nous pensons avoir une bonne compréhension de qui est Dieu et de ce que Dieu fait, nous lisons ces récits et voyons que Dieu a un plan plus vaste et que nous ne voyons pas et ne pouvons pas tout voir. Pour moi, c'est très réconfortant. C'est très humiliant.

Dieu est Dieu, et nous ne le sommes pas. Ce que Dieu dit, Dieu le fait. Notre perception de qui est Dieu est basée sur ce que Dieu choisit de nous révéler. La meilleure vue que nous avons de Dieu nous est présentée dans les évangiles - la vie de Jésus-Christ.

Dieu accomplit ses promesses. Cela aussi est un grand réconfort. Nous pouvons compter sur Dieu.

Prière

Dieu de l'Univers, Vous travaillez de manière mystérieuse. Nous ne pouvons pas connaître votre esprit ni vos plans. Vous travaillez d'une manière que nous ne voyons que partiellement. Merci car ta parole est éternelle. Merci d'avoir jugé bon de m'appeler pour faire partie de votre plan. Aide-nous à être attentifs à voir comment Tu travailles dans ce monde.

Numbers 23:19

19God is not human, that he should lie,

not a human being, that he should change his mind.

Does he speak and then not act?

Does he promise and not fulfill?

In these chapters of Numbers, we get a peek into what God is doing in the lives of those who are not the chosen people nor the descendants of Abraham.  The Moabites are related to the Israelites as both have the same common ancestor Terah (the father of Abraham).  In some manner, Balaam has some knowledge of God (Yahweh).  Whether it is by either a longer tradition passed down from the line of Terah or since Balaam is some sort of holy man, he is definitely aware of who God is and what God can do.  I suggest that you read Numbers Chapters 22-24.  

I always find it fascinating when we get glimpses of what God is doing among the nations in the Bible.  What we have in the Old Testament is mostly the story of God brought to us through the perspective of the Chosen People - the Israelites.  But within these stories we see glimpses like this of how God is not a tribal nor provincial God.  Yes, He has made a covenant with Abraham, Jacob, and Moses - yet there are others with whom God speaks.  There are others through whom God speaks.  We see only what is in front of us and our experiences.  These glimpses should remind us that God is God and we are not.  When we think we have a good grasp of who God is and what God is doing we read these accounts and see that God has a bigger plan and we do not and cannot see it all.  To me, that is very comforting.  That is very humbling.

God is God, and we are not.  What God says God does.  Our perception of who God is is based on what God chooses to reveal to us.  The best view that we have gotten of God is presented to us in the Gospels - the life of Jesus Christ.

God fulfills His promises.  That, too, is a great comfort.  We can rely on God.

Prayer

God of the Universe, You work in mysterious ways.  We cannot know Your mind nor Your plans.  You work in ways that we only partially see.  Thank You that Your word is eternal.  Thank You that You see fit to call me to be a part of Your plan.  Help us to be attuned to seeing how You are working in this world.

Hesabui 23:19

19 Mungu si mtu, aseme uongo; Wala si mwanadamu, ajute; Iwapo amesema, hatalitenda? Iwapo amenena, hatalifikiliza?

Katika sura hizi za Hesabu, tunapata mtazamo wa kile Mungu anafanya katika maisha ya wale ambao sio watu waliochaguliwa wala uzao wa Ibrahimu. Wamoabi wana uhusiano na Waisraeli kwani wote wawili wana babu sawa Tera (baba ya Ibrahimu). Kwa namna fulani, Balaamu ana ujuzi fulani juu ya Mungu (Yahweh). Ikiwa ni kwa mila ndefu iliyopitishwa kutoka kwa ukoo wa Tera au kwa kuwa Balaamu ni mtu fulani mtakatifu, hakika anafahamu Mungu ni nani na ni nini Mungu anaweza kufanya. Ninashauri kwamba usome Hesabu Sura ya 22-24.

Daima ninavutiwa wakati tunapata maoni ya kile Mungu anafanya kati ya mataifa katika Biblia. Tunayo katika Agano la Kale ni hadithi ya Mungu iliyoletwa kwetu kupitia mtazamo wa Watu Wateule - Waisraeli. Lakini ndani ya hadithi hizi tunaona picha kama hii ya jinsi Mungu sio Mungu wa kabila wala mkoa. Ndio, amefanya agano na Ibrahimu, Yakobo, na Musa - lakini kuna wengine ambao Mungu huzungumza nao. Kuna wengine ambao Mungu huzungumza kupitia wao. Tunaona tu yaliyo mbele yetu na uzoefu wetu. Maoni haya yanapaswa kutukumbusha kwamba Mungu ni Mungu na sisi sio. Tunapofikiria tuna ufahamu mzuri wa Mungu ni nani na Mungu anafanya nini tunasoma hizi akaunti na kuona kwamba Mungu ana mpango mkubwa na hatuwezi na hatuwezi kuiona yote. Kwangu mimi, hiyo inafariji sana. Hiyo ni unyonge sana.

Mungu ni Mungu, na sisi sio. Kile Mungu anasema Mungu hufanya. Mtazamo wetu juu ya Mungu ni nani unategemea kile Mungu anachagua kutufunulia. Maoni bora ambayo tumepata kutoka kwa Mungu yanawasilishwa kwetu katika Injili - maisha ya Yesu Kristo.

Mungu hutimiza ahadi zake. Hiyo, pia, ni faraja kubwa. Tunaweza kumtegemea Mungu.

Maombi

Mungu wa Ulimwengu, Unafanya kazi kwa njia za kushangaza. Hatuwezi kujua akili yako wala mipango Yako. Unafanya kazi kwa njia ambazo hatuoni tu. Asante kwamba neno lako ni la milele. Asante kwamba unaona inafaa kuniita niwe sehemu ya mpango wako. Tusaidie kujipanga kuona jinsi Unavyofanya kazi katika ulimwengu huu.
