Colossiens 3:16

16Que la parole du Christ, avec toute sa richesse, habite en vous. Instruisez-vous et avertissez-vous les uns les autres, avec une pleine sagesse. Chantez à Dieu, de tout votre cœur et avec reconnaissance, des psaumes, des hymnes et des cantiques inspirés par l'Esprit.

Si vous suivez ce blog depuis un certain temps, ce verset devrait vous sembler familier. Paul résume comment les chrétiens devraient vivre leur vie au sein de la communauté chrétienne avec cette seule phrase. Pour ceux d'entre vous qui découvrent ce blog, c'est le mantra que j'énonce dans presque tous les articles.

Pour que nous puissions vivre comme le sel et la lumière dans le monde, nous devons être ancrés dans la Parole de Dieu. Nous devons lire et étudier la Bible. Nous devons nous enseigner et nous corriger les uns les autres sur la base de ce que dit la Bible.

Lorsque nous nous réunissons en tant que chrétiens, nous devons exprimer la joie que seule une relation personnelle avec Jésus-Christ peut apporter en chantant ensemble et en louant Dieu pour tous ses merveilleux dons.

La seule chose que Paul laisse de côté ici dans ce verset est la prière communautaire et la prière les uns pour les autres - mais il aborde définitivement cela dans d'autres passages.

Toutes ces choses présupposent que nous nous réunissons en tant que chrétiens pour lire et étudier la Bible et pour la fraternité chrétienne. Il y a ceux qui disent qu'ils n'ont pas besoin d'aller à l'église parce qu'ils peuvent adorer Dieu où qu'ils soient. Il est vrai que vous pouvez adorer Dieu où que vous soyez, mais vous ne pouvez pas avoir de communion avec d'autres croyants si vous ne les rencontrez pas. Ce n'est jamais une bonne idée de lire et d'étudier la Bible de manière isolée - il y a eu beaucoup de gens qui ont essayé cela et ont emprunté des chemins terriblement faux dans leur compréhension des Écritures parce qu'ils n'avaient pas d'enseignant et qu'ils n'avaient personne pour les défier. leur interprétation. Père céleste, nous te remercions de nous avoir créés pour la fraternité. Que nous puissions nous réunir avec nos frères et sœurs pour en savoir plus sur vous, nous enseigner et nous corriger les uns les autres dans l'amour et vous chanter des louanges. Aidez-nous à être de meilleurs membres du corps du Christ.

16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 

If you have been following this blog for any length of time, this verse should sound familiar to you.  Paul encapsulates how Christians should live their lives within the Christian community with this one sentence.  For those of you new to this blog, this is the mantra I state in almost every post.  

In order for us to live as the salt and light in the world we must be grounded in the Word of God.  We must read and study the Bible.  We must teach and correct one another based on what the Bible says.  

When we come together as Christians we need to express the joy that only a personal relationship with Jesus Christ can bring through singing together and praising God for all His wonderful gifts.

The one thing that Paul leaves out here in this verse is communal prayer and praying for one another - but he definitely addresses that in other passages.

All of these things presuppose that we are coming together as Christians to read and study the Bible and for Christian fellowship.  There are those who say that they do not need to attend church because they can worship God no matter where they are.  It is true that you can worship God no matter where you are, but you cannot have fellowship with other believers if you do not meet with them.  It is never a good idea to read and study the Bible in isolation - there have been many people who have tried this and taken some horribly wrong paths in their understanding of the Scriptures because they had no teacher and they had no one to challenge them on their interpretation.  You can also sing to God while alone, but there is something special about singing in a communal setting.

This Sunday, if you are able, go to church.  Be with other believers.  Praise God for all that He has done.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You made us for fellowship.  That we can come together with our brothers and sisters to learn more about You, teach and correct one another in love, and sing praises to You.  Help us to be better members of the body of Christ.
