Jean 15:9-11

9Comme le Père m'a aimé, je vous ai aussi aimés. Demeurez dans mon amour. 10Si vous gardez mes commandements, vous demeurerez dans mon amour, de même que j'ai gardé les commandements de mon Père, et que je demeure dans son amour. 11Je vous ai dit ces choses, afin que ma joie soit en vous, et que votre joie soit parfaite.

L'une des choses qui différencient les chrétiens des autres religions est que nous pouvons avoir une relation personnelle avec Dieu. Dieu n’est pas un être éthéré inconnaissable, lointain ou un ensemble de préceptes et d’idéaux. Dieu s'est fait chair et a habité parmi nous.

Jean 1:14

14Et la parole a été faite chair, et elle a habité parmi nous, pleine de grâce et de vérité; et nous avons contemplé sa gloire, une gloire comme la gloire du Fils unique venu du Père.

Dieu non seulement nous a créés, mais est venu et a vécu parmi nous. Dieu nous connaît et pourtant Il nous aime toujours. Comment pouvons-nous connaître Dieu à un niveau personnel? En lisant et en étudiant la Bible. Le verset 10 de nos Écritures aujourd'hui nous dit que si nous gardons les commandements de Jésus, nous resterons dans son amour. Quels étaient ses ordres? Nous avons quatre livres, les Évangiles, qui enregistrent les enseignements de Jésus. Nous savons que les enseignements de Jésus étaient basés sur l’Ancien Testament. Jésus n'a pas inventé de nouvelles idées sur la façon d'adorer, de servir ou d'être obéissant à Dieu. Il nous a enseigné la meilleure façon d'adorer, de servir et d'être obéissant à Dieu.

Chaque jour, nous devons approfondir la Bible. Nous devons lire les enseignements de Jésus. Nous devons lire la manière pratique de changer nos vies pour répondre aux normes de Jésus que Paul, Jean, Pierre, Jacques et les autres auteurs des livres du Nouveau Testament nous donnent. Nous devons lire l'Ancien Testament pour voir les exemples de la façon dont les gens ont obéi et n'ont pas obéi aux commandements de Dieu pour nous donner plus de perspicacité sur la façon dont nous devons nous rapporter à Dieu.

Dieu a créé un moyen pour nous de devenir intimes avec lui. Nous acceptons que nous sommes des pécheurs séparés de la Sainteté de Dieu. Nous acceptons Jésus-Christ comme le Seigneur et Sauveur de nos vies et de notre âme. Nous lisons et étudions ensuite les Écritures, à la fois individuellement et collectivement avec d'autres chrétiens. Nous utilisons les siècles de perspicacité et de sagesse des nombreux chrétiens qui ont étudié la Bible avant nous pour nous aider à nous donner des idées et des points de vue auxquels nous n'avons peut-être pas pensé.

En même temps, nous exécutons les commandements de Jésus. Connaître Dieu ne concerne pas seulement la connaissance de la tête. C'est aussi une question de connaissance du cœur. Faire le travail que Jésus nous a commandé de faire. Encore une fois, nous savons ce qu'il nous a dit en lisant et en étudiant ses enseignements. Nous lisons, étudions et faisons grâce à la grâce et à l'amour que Dieu nous a donnés et nous devons partager ce message avec les autres.

John 15:9-11

9“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

One of the things that make Christians different from other religions is that we can have a personal relationship with God.  God isn’t some ethereal being that is unknowable, distant, or a set of precepts and ideals.  God was made flesh and dwelt among us.

John 1:14

14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

God not only created us, but came and lived among us.  God knows us and yet He still loves us.  How do we get to know God on a personal level?  By reading and studying the Bible.  Verse 10 of our scripture today tells us that if we keep Jesus’s commands we will remain in His love.  What were his commands?  We have four books, The Gospels, that record the teachings of Jesus.  We know that Jesus’ teachings were based on the Old Testament.  Jesus did not invent new ideas on how to worship, serve, or be obedient to God.  He taught us the best way for us to worship, serve, and be obedient to God.  

Each day we should delve deeper into the Bible.  We need to be reading the teachings of Jesus.  We need to be reading the practical manner in which to change our lives to meet Jesus’ standards that Paul, John, Peter, James, and the other authors of the New Testament books give us.  We need to read the Old Testament to see the examples of how people did and did not obey the commands of God to give us more insight into how we are to relate to God.

God created a way for us to become intimate with Him.  We accept that we are sinners separated from the Holiness of God.  We accept Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of our lives and our soul.  We then read and study the Scriptures, both individually and corporately with other Christians.  We utilize the centuries of insight and wisdom of the many Christians who have studied the Bible before us to help give us insights and viewpoints that we may not have thought about.  

At the same time we do the commands of Jesus.  Knowing God is not only about head knowledge.  It is also about heart knowledge.  Doing the work that Jesus commanded us to do.  Again, we know what He has told us by reading and studying His teachings.  We read, study, and do because of the grace and love that God has given us and we are to share that message with others.

Yohana 15:9-11

Mungu hakutuumba tu, bali alikuja na kuishi kati yetu. Mungu anatujua na bado anatupenda. Je! Tunawezaje kumjua Mungu kwa kiwango cha kibinafsi? Kwa kusoma na kujifunza Biblia. Tunakubali Yesu Kristo kama Bwana na Mwokozi wa maisha yetu na roho zetu. Kisha tunasoma na kusoma Maandiko, mmoja mmoja na kwa pamoja na Wakristo wengine. Tunatumia karne nyingi za ufahamu na hekima ya Wakristo wengi ambao wamejifunza Biblia kabla yetu kusaidia kutupatia ufahamu na maoni ambayo labda hatukuwazia.

Wakati huo huo tunafanya amri za Yesu. Kumjua Mungu sio tu juu ya maarifa ya kichwa. Inahusu pia maarifa ya moyo. Kufanya kazi ambayo Yesu alituamuru tufanye. Tena, tunajua kile Ametuambia kwa kusoma na kusoma mafundisho Yake. Tunasoma, kusoma, na kufanya kwa sababu ya neema na upendo ambao Mungu ametupa na tunapaswa kushiriki ujumbe huo na wengine.
