2 Timothée 2:22
Les jeunes sont plongés dans «le maintenant» - excitation, test de barrières, recherche de nouvelles choses, audace, essayant de se trouver. Les passions de la jeunesse sont ces choses que nous expérimentons et comprenons pour la première fois. La jeunesse est ce moment où nous commençons à avoir à la fois liberté et responsabilité. C'est aussi ce moment de notre vie où des changements physiques et émotionnels se produisent rapidement. C'est une période de changements hormonaux rapides, lorsque des zones du cerveau ont des poussées de croissance, et où il y a beaucoup de confusion, de doute et un fort désir de s'intégrer. C'est une période d'émotions extrêmes. C’est le moment où son caractère s’officialise. L'énergie et l'appétit sont à leur apogée.
Paul demande à Timothée d'éviter le comportement erratique généralement associé à la jeunesse et de se fonder sur la foi chrétienne. Au lieu de courir après les choses qui suscitent votre intérêt humain, poursuivez la justice, la foi, l'amour et la paix.
Cela ne veut pas dire que la vie chrétienne est une vie terne. Les chrétiens doivent avoir des priorités et des raisons différentes pour faire les choses que nous faisons qui apportent du plaisir. La poursuite de la justice, de la foi, de l'amour et de la paix est une aventure active dans la recherche de Dieu. Paul ne dit pas à Timothée d'aller s'asseoir dans une grotte et de passer tout son temps à poursuivre ces choses. Paul enseigne à Timothée que sa vie doit être régie par les enseignements de Jésus, et non par ses propres désirs.
Comment pouvons-nous rejeter nos propres désirs et rechercher ces choses supérieures? En lisant et en étudiant la Bible. Et, comme nous le voyons dans la dernière partie de ce verset, par la communion avec ceux qui recherchent ces choses avec un cœur pur.
La maturité chrétienne ne correspond pas nécessairement à la maturité réelle. Ce n'est pas parce que vous êtes vieux et chrétien que vous êtes un chrétien mûr. La même chose pour le contraire - un chrétien qui est jeune peut être un chrétien beaucoup plus mûr qu'une personne plus âgée. Timothy lui-même en est un exemple.
Au fur et à mesure que nous mûrissons en tant que chrétiens - en lisant et en étudiant la Bible, en communiquant avec Dieu (prière), en priant au nom des autres et en communiquant avec d'autres chrétiens - nous assumons une gravité qui vient des responsabilités que nous reconnaissons avoir . Nous ne devons pas agir par impulsion ni réagir sur le moment. Au fur et à mesure que nous mûrissons, nous prenons davantage en compte l'idée profonde de la façon dont Dieu nous a accordé grâce, amour et patience.
Prière
Père céleste, aide-nous à nous efforcer de devenir davantage comme Jésus. Aidez-nous à découvrir ce que vous voudriez que nous fassions. Aidez-nous pendant que nous lisons et étudions Votre Parole. Aidez-nous, dans notre vie, à être conscients que nous sommes à vous - achetés avec un prix. Puissions-nous être une bénédiction pour les autres.

The young get wrapped up in “the now” -- excitement, testing barriers, seeking new things, daring things, trying to find themselves. Youthful passions are those things that we experience and understand for the first time. Youth is that time when we begin to have both freedom and responsibility. It is also that time in our lives when there are physical and emotional changes happening rapidly. It is a time of rapid hormonal changes, when areas of the brain have growth spurts, and when there is much confusion, doubt, and the strong desire to fit in. It is a time of extremes in emotion. It is the time when one’s character is being formalized. Both energy and appetites are at their peak.
Paul is instructing Timothy to avoid the erratic behavior commonly associated with youth and to instead be grounded as a Christian. Instead of running after the things that spark your human interest, pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace.
This does not mean that the Christian life is a dull life. Christians are to have different priorities and different reasons for doing the things we do that bring enjoyment. Pursuing righteousness, faith, love, and peace is an active adventure in seeking God. Paul does not tell Timothy to go sit in a cave and spend all of his time pursuing these things. Paul is instructing Timothy that his life should be governed by the teachings of Jesus, not by his own desires.
How do we put our own desires away and seek these higher things? By reading and studying the Bible. And, as we see in the last part of this verse, by fellowship with those who are seeking these things with a pure heart.
Christian maturity does not necessarily match actual maturity. Just because you are old and a Christian does not mean that you are a mature Christian. The same for the opposite - a Christian who is young can be a much more mature Christian than someone who is older. Timothy himself is an example of this.
As we mature as Christians - through reading and studying the Bible, being in communication with God (prayer), praying on behalf of others, and through fellowship with other Christians - we take on a gravity that comes from the responsibilities that we recognize we have. We should not act on impulse or respond in the moment. As we mature, we take more into account the deep idea of how God has extended grace, love, and patience to us.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us to strive to become more like Jesus. Help us to seek out what You would have us to do. Help us as we read and study Your Word. Help us as we live our lives to be mindful that we are Yours - bought with a price. May we be a blessing to others.

Vijana hufungwa kwa "sasa" - msisimko, vizuizi vya kujaribu, kutafuta vitu vipya, vitu vya kuthubutu, kujaribu kujitafuta. Mapenzi ya ujana ni yale mambo ambayo tunapata na kuelewa kwa mara ya kwanza. Vijana ni wakati huo tunapoanza kuwa na uhuru na uwajibikaji. Pia ni wakati huo katika maisha yetu wakati kuna mabadiliko ya mwili na kihemko yanayotokea haraka. Ni wakati wa mabadiliko ya haraka ya homoni, wakati maeneo ya ubongo yana ukuaji, na wakati kuna machafuko mengi, mashaka, na hamu kubwa ya kutoshea. Ni wakati wa kukithiri kwa hisia. Ni wakati ambapo tabia ya mtu inasimamishwa. Nguvu zote na hamu ya kula ziko kwenye kilele chao.
Paulo anamwagiza Timotheo aepuke tabia mbaya ambayo kawaida huhusishwa na ujana na badala yake awe na msingi kama Mkristo. Badala ya kufuata vitu vinavyochea shauku yako ya kibinadamu, fuata haki, imani, upendo, na amani.
Hii haimaanishi kuwa maisha ya Kikristo ni maisha ya ubutu. Wakristo wanapaswa kuwa na vipaumbele tofauti na sababu tofauti za kufanya mambo tunayofanya ambayo huleta raha. Kufuatilia haki, imani, upendo, na amani ni jambo la kuvutia katika kumtafuta Mungu. Paulo hamwambii Timotheo aende kukaa ndani ya pango na atumie wakati wake wote kufuata mambo haya. Paulo anamwagiza Timotheo kwamba maisha yake yanapaswa kutawaliwa na mafundisho ya Yesu, sio na tamaa zake mwenyewe.
Je! Tunawekaje matakwa yetu wenyewe na kutafuta vitu hivi vya juu? Kwa kusoma na kujifunza Biblia. Na, kama tunavyoona katika sehemu ya mwisho ya aya hii, kwa kushirikiana na wale ambao wanatafuta vitu hivi kwa moyo safi.
Ukomavu wa Kikristo sio lazima ulingane na ukomavu halisi. Kwa sababu tu wewe ni mzee na Mkristo haimaanishi kwamba wewe ni Mkristo mkomavu. Vivyo hivyo kwa kinyume - Mkristo ambaye ni mchanga anaweza kuwa Mkristo aliyekomaa zaidi kuliko mtu aliye mkubwa. Timotheo mwenyewe ni mfano wa hii.
Tunapokomaa kama Wakristo - kwa kusoma na kusoma Biblia, kuwa katika mawasiliano na Mungu (maombi), kuomba kwa niaba ya wengine, na kupitia ushirika na Wakristo wengine - tunachukua mvuto unaotokana na majukumu ambayo tunatambua tunayo . Hatupaswi kutenda kwa msukumo au kujibu kwa wakati huu. Tunapoendelea kukomaa, tunazingatia zaidi wazo la kina la jinsi Mungu ameongeza neema, upendo, na uvumilivu kwetu.
Maombi
Baba wa Mbinguni, tusaidie kujitahidi kuwa kama Yesu. Tusaidie kutafuta kile Ungetaka tufanye. Tusaidie tunaposoma na kujifunza Neno lako. Tusaidie tunapoishi maisha yetu kukumbuka kuwa sisi ni Wako - tumenunuliwa kwa bei. Na tuwe baraka kwa wengine.
